The Allotments and Community Garden is open!

On 28th February, residents were finally able to use the Springhead Park Community Garden and Allotments – and they have all been very busy bees … more about bees later!

It is wonderful to see the myriad of different designs and planting ideas from our group of 52 allotment plotholders. The enthusiasm of the plotholders is infectious, and made even more enjoyable as all family members are taking part in growing their own fruits and vegetables.

In preparation for the The Community Planting day held on 25th April , the community gardeners cleared out and filled with compost / top soil 16 raised planters. The planters are now planted – with those things in season! – and are being keenly watched and watered. Why not come and take a look!

Bank Holiday Monday saw the community gardeners come together again to build a Bee and Bug Hotel, with young and old taking part. There was a lot of drilling and a few broken drill bits – but we now have a wonderful home for our local bees and bugs!

This is just the start of the Community Gardening group coming together – new friendships are being formed, and nature is being enjoyed – if you are interested in being part of this amazing group, send an email to info@egctrust.org.uk

Plot38 has created an entertaining YouTube channel where you can enjoy watching the progress of his allotment plot, along with the work of the community gardeners – it really is worth taking a look —> Plot38
