A Wonderful Community Celebration at the Weldon Heart Launch Event
We were delighted to welcome families and friends to the official launch of Weldon Heart on Saturday 4th April – and what a fantastic day it was!
Despite some blustery weather, the rain kindly stayed away, and we were even treated to a little sunshine by the afternoon.
The celebrations began with a hugely popular Easter egg hunt, organised by the brilliant volunteers from Ebbsfleet Baptist Church. Braving the elements, they ensured children could enjoy decorating eggs and, of course, indulging in plenty of chocolate treats.
Creativity was in full flow at the ice-cream workshop led by Blueprint Arts, which proved to be a big hit with attendees of all ages. Following the official ribbon cutting, children were excited to explore and enjoy the play area for the very first time.
The energy continued with an uplifting Afrobeats workshop from Dela, getting everyone moving and bringing a real sense of joy to the day.
Guests also enjoyed delicious complimentary pizza from the Amalfi Pizza van, alongside hot drinks served by Shanie and her team at the Grounded café. The afternoon was rounded off with the amazing talents of the Ebbsfleet Voices Choir. Throughout the day we were treated to a lively soundtrack thanks to DJ Hugh, who kept the atmosphere buzzing throughout.
We were also pleased to hear from local councillors, alongside representatives from EDC and EGCT, who shared their support and vision for Weldon Heart as a growing community space. As the day drew to a close, families came together for a special movie night screening of Madagascar, providing the perfect end to a memorable day.
The beautiful art piece designed for Weldon Heart, by Blueprint Arts, was created with input from local children. Now proudly displayed in its new home – the Weldon Heart lobby – why not come and take a look!
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the day such a success, particularly Maureen from the Trust and Shanie from Grounded, whose hard work and dedication brought the event to life.
We are excited to see Weldon Heart grow into a vibrant community hub – a welcoming, family-friendly space at the heart of Weldon, where people can come together, connect, and create lasting memories.
